The desire to not use glib is not a joke:
  - The target audience includes Web servers,
  - Also I want to use libglocale in the GNU gettext command-line tools,
hence a dependency on a desktop GUI library is not welcome.

The joke part was that I don't doubt that if the contributors are aware
of this restriction, they won't add a "-lglib" accidentally.
