Another thing, the GSoC project is flexible. It is completely allowed to 
change a little the subject during the summer (but still work on the 
same module(s)). The GSoC proposal should be feasible depending on the 
student skills, but the details are not really important, since they can 
change (but in the proposal you should write realistic details).  
Obviously it is better to follow exactly the proposal, but there is 
often a big difference between the theory and practice.

And before writing the GSoC proposal, you should work a little on the 
code first, so I can see if you are a good student. (but keep your 
studies in priority, of course ;-).
