I haven't tried, but what you describe might be solved as follows:
-- download *all* the latest helix rpms into a directory.
-- (well, almost all,e.g. if you don't want games or whatever...)
-- then rpm -U *.rpm in that directory . That should solve the
mixed dependency problems ...
