Re: [gugmasters] GUG Switzerland

Hi,

To add to Dave's comments I'd like to share what we did when we started our group in Beijing. We've successfully used those free city magazines to advertise for such (monthly) gathering. It gets you people you wouldn't reach otherwise. They usually provide free ads for non-profits and events and list bars, restaurants and other activities.

Hi Marcus,

In addition to the resources Emily sent you, my recommended first step
would be to organise a small GNOME meeting in Zurich - call it a GNOME
Beer Meetup or whatever - and spread the word in local LUGs and tech
forums. See who turns up, and go from there!

Cheers,
Dave.

Hi all.

For those who do not know me yet, my name is Marcus Moeller. I was born
in Germany and live/work in Switzerland since a few years.

I am a long term GNOME user and contributor and want to set up GUG for
Switzerland.

As I am also country coordinator for the FSFE in Switzerland, so I got
good knowledge in setting up and organizing group activities.

In the past I already done a lot of GNOME related events (e.g. a release
party in Zurich, or a presentation about GNOME 3 for the Ubuntu Swiss
Team which I just gave yesterday.)

So how could we proceed to make a Swiss GUG happen?

Greets
Marcus
