high and low for a reference to get_layout() that I just *knew* I'd seen
somewhere…

That said, it should be a general thing for text widgets. That is:
including GtkLabel and co. And there's something I only just realised,
because you hinted at it: Label has a get_layout() method, so for
that, I can probably simplify what I'm currently doing considerably.

Let me know if you get the trick working for CellRendererText, and
I'll try to remember to post back if I stop using that same trick, haha.
