Thanks. Maybe the issue was simply version numbers, which jhbuild solves. I would still like to know - how do they solve the issue of HTML files, which are distributed, specified in MAINTAINERCLEANFILES and not in DISTCLEANFILES? Normally this causes `make distcheck` to fail, because `distclean` doesn't clean the HTML files. I'd like to do the same for my code.
