I've never needed to do this before. I'm not sure if you'll be able to easily get a tight
region around the path, but you can get a rectangle bounding the path using
Context::get_stroke_extents() or (get_path_extents() or get_fill_extents() depending on
your needs). if you need something more than that, I'm guessing you'll need to code
something yourself.
