button press, release events on Gtk::Entry

Hi,

I need to display a popup window when Gtk::Entry added on the window is clicked. I tried adding button press and release events on Gtk::Entry. But when I click on the entry the event handler does not get called. I don't know why the event handler does not get called. Please tell me what I have to do to get this working.
