Your version of git also looks quite old.  You have version 0.99 and
the current releases are 1.5.x I believe.  You might try installing a
newer version?  I have no idea if that could be the problem or not...
You might also try asking on the gnome-love mailing list if you can't
get it to work -- there are often people there who know how to help
people get started with jhbuild.
