As for me, I could compile some simple examples only after installing the all-in-one package from http://gladewin32.sourceforge.net/. So this is (IMHO) a good starting point. I use the Dev-Cpp as IDE.

I haven't been able to get Dev-C++ to just call 'make'. What about you guys? So when I'm on windows I just use msys and gvim or pspad.
