I therefore did the GIT thing to get the latest version of the source code.

$ git clone git://git.gnome.org/gtkglext

I ran ./bootstrap to create the necessary files and then:

$ mingw32-configure

which ran to completion no errors, however upon:

$ make

It seems to go ok for a bit but then this happens:
