Oops.... a second thought occurred to me.  Technically speaking I'm actually
using gtkmm to "wrap" the gtk functionality.  Is that supported in
gtk-win32?  I'm assuming it must be because the GUI elements seem to be
getting created and initialized successfully.  It's only the updates that
don't seem to be working properly....  :-(
