You're too early by two hours.  It's a combination of busy and trying  
to find a reasonable answer in absence of time to experiment.  :-((

CellRenderers draw themselves onto their parents' GdkWindow.  Unless  
you pull some black magic, it's very difficult to render actual  
widgets into a TreeView.  Windowless widgets like labels and images  
are easier to trick than anything that has a window.  SexyUrlLabel has  
a GdkWindow, so you can trap mouse events.

Unfortunately, i have no advice.  Sorry.
