Gtk2-1.021 make test failures

Hello all,

Happy new year.  I'm having a problem installing Gtk2-1.021.  Any test
that needs Gtk::SimpleMenu is failing for some reason.  Specifically
tests 19 and 26.  Same error for both tests:

t/19.GtkSimpleList........#     Failed test (t/19.GtkSimpleList.t at
line 19)
#     Tried to require 'Gtk2::SimpleList'.
#     Error:  Can't find 'boot_Gtk2__GType' symbol in
#     /home/vek/installs/Gtk2-1.021/blib/arch/auto/Gtk2/Gtk2.so

t/26.GtkSimpleMenu........#     Failed test (t/26.GtkSimpleMenu.t at
line 19)
#     Tried to require 'Gtk2::SimpleMenu'.

I'm on a Mandrake 9.1 box, Perl 5.8.0.  Any pointers/help you could give
would be greatly appreciated.
