don't forget that you can always do something like:

perl Makefile.PL PREFIX=/var/tmp/perl_gnome && make all test install
export PERL5LIB=/var/tmp/perl_gnome/perl5/site_perl

then run your app. it will save you the trouble of installing stuff
system-wide when it will conflict with the mainline code. 

this stuff will obviously be merged when he's ready for it to be.
