I've just had a go at testing your suggestion.
I reran gtk-osx-build-setup.sh beforehand to ensure the modulesets
were canonical.
I had to use
branches["libxml2"]="ftp://ftp.gnome.org/pub/gnome/sources/
libxml2/2.6/libxml2-2.6.30.tar.bz2"
as it otherwise tried to check out via curl 'ibxml2/2.6/
libxml2-2.6.30.tar.bz2' but after that
change it built successfully.
