Installing gtk on linux 64 bit

Hello sir,

  I was trying to install gtk version 2.20 + . Every stable version
which i am downloading i am not able to install . Error are coming
like obselete  base 64 headers and unexpected EOF .  Please send me a
web path where i can get a stable version to download on linux 64 bit
machine.
