that are out there for development opportunities with GTK. First
off you will have the opportunity to work on a technology that is going to
change the way IT computing is done across the world. VMware currently has
about a 80% market share in the virtualization. 100% of the Fortune 100
companies use our products and over 90% of the Fortune 1000. Not only are
our engineers extremely intelligent, but are responsible for coming up with the
ideas for some of the new products that we will be coming out with over the next
few years. There is always going to be cool projects to work on, and you
will have a chance to make a huge impact at VMware (very rare for a larger
company). You will be surrounded be a group of some of the best engineers
anywhere in the Silicon Valley. This team is growing fast and you
will have the opportunity to move up in VMware pretty quickly if you have the
desire, ability, and work ethic. We
have two engineers on our team that are regular contributors to the Gnome
Project that can also help paint a picture of the working environment at
VMware. You will have a chance to work on a 1.0 product that is going

Applications Engineer (Linux) for Desktop Console
Group
Title:
Member of Technical Staff
The
Desktop Console team at VMware is responsible for delivering a compelling and
innovative desktop interaction experience to virtually all VMware users. We
develop a variety of products and components, including VMware Player itself and
VMware VDM Client, as well as integrated console solutions for VMware Virtual Center, VMware Server, and other server
management applications. Our software is used on a daily basis by millions of
people and constitutes the primary desktop environment for a large and rapidly
growing number of users.
Our team
is part of the Hosted UI group, a tight-knit band of developers who also develop
VMware Workstation and VMware Fusion. Our products run on Linux, Windows and
Macintosh platforms.
As an
Applications Engineer, you will:
+ Help
define the requirements of new products and features, and collaborate on the
user interface design.
+ Design
and own key components of our applications.
+ Develop
flexible, reusable code that can be shared in multiple applications.
+ Ship
quality desktop and server applications to hundreds of thousands of customers.
Requirements
3+ years
experience of commercial software product development.
Experience with software development in C/C++
Familiarity with Linux application development (gtk2)
Excellent
design, programming and debugging skills.
Excellent
user interaction design and visual design acumen.
Strong
analytical skills, good judgment, passion for your work.
BSCS,
MSCS or equivalent
