Fontconfig error while running GTK+ application

Hi All,
I am using GTK+ 2.12.2 over DirectFB
1.1.1. When i run a GTK+ application i get following error from fontconfig and application exits
No fonts found; this probably means that the fontconfig
library is not correctly configured. You may need to
edit the fonts.conf configuration file. More information
about fontconfig can be found in the fontconfig(3) manual
page and on
http://fontconfig.org
I checked fonts.conf file too. The directory path looked ok.
What is the reason for this error?
