volumes in file chooser

Hi there, my name is Mario and i have some questions about gtk
The first one is: when i run a file chooser under Gnome, the file
chooser shows shortcuts to
devices (CDROM USB), but i use the same file chooser out of the
gnome's desktop, that
shortcuts are not there anymore.

So, how can i use gtk file chooser with devices, but not under gnome ?
