pkg-config cross compilation

am trying to cross compile pkg-config.but all the way its ends up with the following error

has anybody seen this error?please do reply with solution
my
configuration is
----------------------------
./configure --prefix=/root/destpkg/ --host=powerpc-405-linux-gnu
(/root/destpkg/ is the destination for it)
