Displaying log messages using gtk+ glade

hello,

 

i'm currently working on an application using gtk and glade interface designer for the GUI of heartbeat and database replication monitoring. I want to display the log messages (var/log/messages) in the GUI(in the text area for example) but i don't know how to do that.

 

i have read some of the tutorials but i didn't find any sample program on display the contents of a certain file.

 

Wish u could help me with this and could help me sample programs on it.
