I donot know for perfomance, but Expose will not work as it should (all 
X windows are grouped,
not only windows of your application. Also you will have some clipboard 
drawbacks, and of course
it will not have same GUI as other native apps, but there are good GTK 
themes with Aqua look.
Also, locale is based on LANG vars, just as in Linux and others, while 
native apps are using some
other (I donot know exactly what and how, maybe you can implement it also)

You can check if X11 is installed and run X11 installer if it is not.
