Changing Colours - Again !!

Sorry people, but I am pretty new to GTK+ as a programming tool.

I am trying to change the background colour of a text box from white to
cyan and having trouble working out how to achieve this.

I have read the tutorial and this mentions an 'rc' file but realy didn't
explain how this file works and how to interface this file into an
existing program.

Or is there an alternate way to changing a widgets colour ?
