gtk-2.0.5

Hi,
I am trying to install gtk 2.0.5 on solaris.
I managed to install glib 2.0.3 and now I am trying to
configure pango-1.0.3. But this is the error it
produces:
checking for flex... flex
checking for flex... (cached) flex
checking for yywrap in -lfl... yes
checking lex output file root... configure: error:
cannot find output from flex; giving up

I checked for flex and it exists and set on the path.
Could anyone give me a hint??
