As long as your app can live through a GTK bug or weirdness or two for
the next couple months, 1.3.x should be fine. (1.3.x becomes 2.0.x
when it's released.)

Get the 1.3.x with the highest "x" ;-) Check back occasionally for new
versions, and if you find bugs report them to
http://bugzilla.gnome.org.

Mostly likely the time saved by 2.0 being far nicer than 1.2 will
exceed the time spent dealing with GTK instability.
