You could use a drawing area. But if you need to interacto with the
objects, I reccommend you use gnome_canvas (and maybe gdk-pixbuf, if you
wanna load jpg/tiff images).

Search the mail archives for a message I sent some days ago for a
working (and a NON-working!) program (the only difference between the
two is the type of pointers used...).
