what happened to gdk-pixbuf-save?

Hello,

I'm trying to save a gdkpixbuf (from a drawable) to a file (png, jpg).
On internet, I see a lot of discussion (from june-2000) about a
gdk-pixbuf-save patch being comitted to gtk-1.3.... But what happened to
it? Such functions are not in my gdkpixbuf.h..
Or has the patch been comitted to the gtk-1.3 devel tree instead of to
the "separate" gdk-pixbuf library? If so, would there be other ways to
save a gdk-pixbuf to a jpg/png file?
