(1) spline curves (2) grab/motion notify events

1) has anyone got any plans to implement SPLINE_STEPS for the
   CanvasCurveItem ? last time i check CVS, it still said "FIXME".

2) when i do a gtk_grab_add() at button_press, and then continue to
   process motion_notify events, i was expecting to see the
   coordinates from motion_notify events move smoothly. instead, i am
   seeing them jump around (forward and backwards) as the pointer
   crosses various widget boundaries. can anyone explain what is going
   on?
