Gee, I hope so. The new UI for Applixware uses GTK+.
And we sell it.

It would be if we statically linked the libs into our
execuatables. Instead, what we do is distribute an
rpm containing the most recent GTK+ stuff that we
can get our hands on and build. We then provide the
option to install a "hand-rolled" rpm into a place that
our software will look, so we can use the most up to
date versions of these shared libs without changing
the user's system.

We also ship a variety of stable rpms so the user can
upgrade their system's GTK+ dross. What gets pointed
to and installed is exactly that... an install time choice.
And because we are only referencing shared libs, if the
user changes the libs, we automatically use the most
recent stuff too.

Package management systems are a big help, now if only
there was a standard LINUX package management
system, one that was tightly bound into a registration
database/server.

Hope this was helpful.
