Phew! Got it, thank you. I'm still too new at linux development to fully
understand library nomenclature. But, I found a bunch of libglib-2.1.0.0.5
and suchlike, so I assumed that those were the old ones. Carefully deleted
about four files.
Then I deleted the glib-1.2.6 directory and began again. This time, even
gtk+1.2.6 configured. I'm confident that it'll build and install, too.
