I'm not sure how helpful this is, but I'm pretty sure that
     -fno-exceptions
is a C++ option and thus not needed for glib/gtk
compilation. I'm not sure wether it actually causes
an error when compiling plain C (using gcc) ... you
might want to try wether removing this option helps ...
I'm can't explain though why it's bing used ...
