Customizing a push button

What's the easiest way to get a push button with a very customized
look and feel (no depressing, no arming, but redraw of the child which
is a pixmap)?
Is it enough to derive from GtkButton and override all the draw()
functions (_draw(), _draw_focus(), _draw_default())?
