Actually, there's another trick some programmers use : take out your
mem chips and boil them in water (with a little added vinegar), for
about an hour or so (give or take 15 mns depending on the chips'
capacity).
That will take out all the unreleased cruft and make them as good as
new (although not quite, there always remain a couple of pointers
which won't go, and sooner or later you'll have to buy new ones).
