Text box with horizontal scrollbar

is it possible to use a horizontal scrollbar with a text widget ?

in gtk 1.1.14 I found for the text box an option not to wrap lines at the
right edge of the text box, but to read them is necessary to use a
horizontal scrollbar since even if i move the cursor to the right, the
text after the margin is not displayed.
