Text entries and Colors

Hello all,

I have a couple of questions:

1) Ihave a dialog that pops up with several text entry fields.  When the
user clicks the "ok" button, what's the best way to retrieve what they
typed into the entry fields?

2) I also have a clist that I want to alternate each rows background
color for. The problem is that I have no idea how to go about creating a
GdkColor type for the color I want.
