If gtk-config is in the path, this isn't necessary
If /usr/bin isn't in your path, I think you have bigger problems ;-)

--disable-gtktest should (almost) never be used. If the test doesn't
run, something is wrong. 

--disable-gtktest is there for people who want to compile things in an
environment where they won't be able to run programs compiled against
GTK+.
