Yes, and if you only want to edit individual cells, one at a time, it
could be done extremely efficiently... but someone's got to sit down
and write the code.  I'm just going to skip the whole issue for now,
hack up an editing interface that's not "in-place", and work on some
other parts of the app that are more important right now.  Later I can
come back to this if it hasn't already been fixed by then.
