install?

Hello,
I'am trying to install gtk 1.0.4 on redhat release 4.2 with kernel
2.0.34 and I'am having a bit of a problem. It's in the make step,
the following errors occur:

make [2] *** [gtkradiomenuitem.lo] Error 1
make [2] leaving directory '/home/w/gtk+-1.0.4/gtk'
make [1] *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make [1] leaving directory '/home/w/gtk+-1.0.4/gtk'
make [1] *** [all-recursive-am] Error 2

What is this indicating and how do I correct it?
