Hello everybody! :)

Nod, they're pretty neat (relative to the OS that they're running on)...
Do you speak of the programs that look just like ANSI C?? They're called
console programs or something like that... They pop up a text window I
think? I don't think it's very easy to write a GUI with one, though...
You have to get rid of your text window and stuff like that.. rather
silly really.

Learning a bit about WinDoze will really make you appreiate the
absolutely beautiful simplicity and brilliance of Linux and GTK!! :)

Andrew Schulman I'm pretty sure, he wrote "Undocumented DOS" and
"Unauthorized Win95", any of which are interesting to read about if
you want to see what's going on behind the scenes in M$'s OSs. It's
usually not a pretty site at all, but Mr. Schulman does a great job.

There's a good website he's put up about the internals of Win95
(actually, it's a page for his book Unauthrozied Win95):

ftp://ftp.ora.com/pub/examples/windows/win95.update/schulman.html

And it's by O'Reilly so you know it's probably good. :)

hee hee, yeah! :)

Hrm, well, I think it's possible to port GTK... You'd basically have to
do that, I think, if you wanted to port Gimp, wouldn't you.. ? Gimp makes
pretty heavy use of GTK (to say the least!)... I bet a port is of GTK is
possible, get Xlib calls going somehow (maybe look at the Tcl/tk windoze
port?), use those neat Cygnus tools... But I really don't know how
feasible it really is... I think it would be cool to show some WinDoze
people who really nice these GTK programs are.. I love the way they
look!!

I'm thinking that if GTK was ported and WinDoze people saw how cool its
apps are and how nice the interface (both programming and user), they just
might want better performance and put Linux on, just to see what it's
like, perhaps.

Hrm, has anybody already tried porting GTK?? Perhaps potential porters
should get into a group of some sort and work together... *shrug* Just an
idea.

wxWindows? Sounds interesting... GTK is so much fun, though... :)

Have a nice day! :) Long live Linux!
