depends on how well/poor it's coded... who's to say that C and C-like 
applications can't take up errogenous amounts of memory? (hell, look at
netscape:) ).

well, i recently found out that gtk+-perl has been continued and lives
on as gnome-perl.. i might agree with you in the memory overhead issue,
but then the gimp itself pretty much requires this 'bloated' thing for
things such as the script-fu and whatnot.. perhaps instead of just
outright shooting down perl, perhaps you could work at improving perl's
memory 'problems' when coding with it.
