That was pretty much what I was thinking of, yes :)
And yes, my intentions were to make all the extentions source compat-
able. Parts of the are going to be harder then others, so I hope I
can get some help on at least some parts of it, but I belive I can
start it off on my own.

I believe in your earlier post you mentioned creating a variant GTK that
would have a "pluggable" look and feel similar to the JFC (aka Swing). I
just wanted to agree that this would be a wonderful idea and also the
ILU interfaces (I'm not real familar but I took a look at their web
site) sound like a good idea. I've got a billion of my own projects so
unfortunately I can't help but, mainly I wanted you to know that some
people would find it useful (me) and if it is compatible at least
API-wise with the standard GTK then I suspect that when its finished it
would be able to slide neatly in as a drop in replacement + bonus
features.
