I'm running into it in every dialog box, from Open to Save to New to
the Script-Fu dialog boxes. It doesn't go away after a re-compile with
the new headers and libraries installed.

Here's an ldd on my gimp binary:

I *am* running GNU libc6, which might make a difference.

Typing in the Entry test in testgtk no longer echoes the characters. I
can highlight the text just fine.

If I put the insertion point between, say, Hello and World, and start
typing, everything after Hello disappears.
