I agree with you that it would be preferable to have everything in the
upstream git repo and avoid having to "branch" to an alternate repo.
Currently my problem is that I do not have access (yet) to a machine
running Leopard or Snow Leopard, so I am basically stuck on Tiger and
can only properly test fixes on that platform.  Also, the build is
currently broken on Tiger so I have been working to fix that.  (I have
half finished patch to Pango that I also need to test on Leopard at
some point ;) I will leave that for now and carry on with other work I
can do first).  So in short: I do care about the Mac port, but I have
very little spare time.

Since I fortunately have a VGA-dongle for my MacBook I can actually
test the fix in the bug you brought up.  I will promise to do so in
the next 7 days.  Unfortunately, I cannot really keep up with bugs as
soon as they come in ...  It is probably useful if I get myself added
to the gtk-quartz-maint alias though.
