Symbol not found: _res_9_dn_expand

Hello,
I have finally managed (to a point ) to build gtk+-2.16.3 from source
but have a problem with some of the libgio linking.

When I run:

$ sudo make install
I get the following errors:

make  install-data-hook
mkdir -p -- /usr/local/etc/gtk-2.0
g_module_open() failed for
/usr/local/lib/gtk-2.0/2.10.0/loaders/libpixbufloader-png.so:
dlopen(/usr/local/lib/gtk-2.0/2.10.0/loaders/libpixbufloader-png.so,
10): Symbol not found: _res_9_dn_expand
  Referenced from: /usr/local/lib/libgio-2.0.0.dylib
  Expected in: flat namespace

/Users/khine/packages/gtk+-2.16.3/modules/input/im-xim.la does not
export GTK+ IM module API:
dlopen(/Users/khine/packages/gtk+-2.16.3/modules/input/.libs/im-xim.so,
