Current state of discussion seems to be that we don't need an OpenGL
widget, but the ability to enable OpenGL rendering in any widget.  That
will be similar to how cairo integration works currently.

The reason GtkGlEXT is heavy is that it wraps all OpenGL calls.  I have
not looked into it enough to know why, but you probably should :).
