Sounds like you might want something like either:

Recent Files > Today >
               Yesterday >
               Monday >
               Sunday >
               Saturday >
               Friday >
               Thursday >
               ------------------
               All Recent Files >

or

Recent Files > Documents >
               Pictures >
               Music  >
               Websites >
               .
               .
               .
               ---
               All Recent Files >
