I understood this before, but why should it help?
Truetype or fixed fonts work fine, just postscript fonts don't.

Yes, default since SuSE 7.2. And it has been there before.

/usr/lib/locale/de_BE       /usr/lib/locale/de_DE euro
/usr/lib/locale/de_BE euro  /usr/lib/locale/de_LU
/usr/lib/locale/de_CH       /usr/lib/locale/de_LU euro

I can use the Euro currency symbol without problems in GIMP
and other applications but postscript fonts cannot be used at all.
