Yes you can go ahead and do so. Make sure to add a ChangeLog entry
and make that your CVS commit message.
The gmessages.c is just an internal fixup. The gstrfuncs.c change
does break bin-comapt for 64 bit platforms, but that isn't a
concern at the moment.
