gtk entry get keypress

Hey, I'm new to this list and to GTK, and I've
searched the list but couldn't find an answer so here
goes. I'm trying to build a small program - think real
time chat program - that works on serial port
communication. I need to know how to get a single
character entered by the user in the gtkEntry widget.
Which means while the entry adds a character, the same
character is sent to the serial port. 

Basically just need to know how to grab keypress
events for the Entry.
